Standards Supported by DQS


There are three broad groups of standards supported by DQS:

Clinical Standards

  • International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Conditions v10, Canadian Edition and the Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (ICD 10 CA/CCI)
  • Abstracting (Inpatient and Surgical Day Care)
  • Clinical Data Sets (e.g. standards related to the National Rehabilitation Reporting System, Continuing Care Reporting System, Home Care Reporting System)
  • NL Community Table
MIS Standards (Management Information Systems in Canadian Health Service Organizations)
  • MIS Standards - Financial and statistical data related to the operations of the regional health authorities
  • Documentation and statistical reporting standards for CRMS (Client and Referral Management System)
EHR Standards
  • Pan Canadian Electronic Health Record messaging and technical standards, including HL7v3
  • Logical Observation Identifiers, Names and Codes (LOINC)
  • Systemized Nomenclature for Medicine-Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT)
  • Client Registry Registration protocols
  • Provider Registry, Location Listing content standards
  • Various Meditech dictionary standards (e.g. Lab, DI, Provider)
